Terminologie ECU, TCU et chiptuning.

ECU

Engine Control Unit. The electronic control unit that manages fuel, ignition, turbo pressure and emission parameters.

Transmission Control Unit. Controls gear shifts, torque management and adaptation parameters in automatic transmissions.

Mathematical verification value for ECU software file integrity. If not updated after calibration, the ECU may reject the file.

Software optimization applied with stock hardware. Does not require additional intercooler, exhaust or air filter modifications.

On-Board Diagnostics. Standard communication protocol providing ECU access via the diagnostic port.

Programming method where the ECU is removed from the vehicle and connected directly via pinout.

Programming mode requiring processor-level access. Used for locked ECUs or recovery scenarios.

Calibration table within ECU software containing parameters such as fuel, torque and turbo pressure.

Factory original ECU software file read from the vehicle. Must be backed up before every operation.

Diagnostic Trouble Code. Fault codes detected by the ECU. Should be checked after calibration.

Tuning Protection. Security layer applied by ECU manufacturers against software modification.

Measurement of air-fuel mixture ratio relative to ideal value (1.0). Monitored for emission and performance balance in calibration.

Fuel distribution line pressure in common rail diesel engines. Critical safety parameter in calibration.

Maximum torque limit applied by the ECU to protect engine and transmission components.

ECU/TCU learning and self-adjustment process based on driving conditions. May need reset after software changes.
